GU alum Seamus Sullivan's new play, Harlan at the Rockpile, extends over three centuries and two tumultuous lives. In the 19th century, Josiah Harlan, a Quaker, botanist, surgeon, governor and general, becomes the first American to penetrate Afghanistan's notoriously dangerous landscape and government. And in the 21st century, Harlan O'Neill, a sportswriter and failed foreign correspondent, returns to post-Taliban Afghanistan to monitor parliamentary elections, take political clout back from the warlords, and resurrect both his own career and Afghanistan's future- if he and an entire town aren't blown up first. Directed by Professor Tim Raphael, the creator of 2008's roots-rock opera Wisconsin Death Trip. Also at the Festival Sholom Aleichem: Laughter Through Tears Written and Performed by Theodore Bikel Musical Direction by Tamara Brooks September 1 at 2:00 p.m. in the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater Most recently seen at Georgetown University's Bridge To Peace Interfaith Arts Festival, Bikel and Brooks return to DC to unveil the world premiere of this movingly delivered, beautifully sung show about the pioneering 19th Century author Sholom Aleichem. Directed by Professor Derek Goldman, director of Georgetown University's Theater and Performance Studies Program.

Spite at Fringe Festival NYC

Mike Lavoie (Col '03) will be appearing with his theater company, Strings Attached, in the Fringe Festival NYC for five shows August 8th - 22nd. InTariq Hamami's, SPITE, five strangers are told they are the heirs to an unthinkable fortune, but only one of them can have it. They must decide who takes it and if it even exists at all. Reunion Weekend at Georgetown and elsewhere

Georgetown classes ending in 3 and 8 had their reunions on campus May 30-31. Read Mike Lavoie's ('03) great blog post about the event here. He's not the only one to report that a visit to the Royden B. Davis Performing Arts Center caused considerable drooling.

Elsewhere that weekend, a number of other members of the class of 2003 (and others) gathered in Sonoma County, California for a commitment ceremony for Clayton Lord ('03) and Seth Miller ('03). Some photos:

Paid Positions in New DC Film Academy

Kevin Miniter (COL '05) is looking for applicants for an exciting new project in DC. This innovative film academy will open this summer by admitting high school students to programs in Directing and Acting for the Camera. In the future, the academy will evolve to provide a multitude of exciting programs for both students and adults.

We are searching for the following paid full and part-time job positions. We will be starting them in the month of June.

1. Directing Instructors: Individuals with film degrees and teaching experience or with directing experience to teach the directing programs.
• Directing Teacher's Assistants: individuals with some film experience.
2. Acting Instructors: Individuals with acting degrees and teaching experience or substantial acting experience.
• Acting Teacher's Assistants: Individuals with some acting experience, or who are in acting programs in college.
3. Technically savvy individuals with camera and editing experience
